Amman, December 31, 2024: Continuing its pivotal role since its inception in providing all forms of support to the local community, individuals, and various developmental sectors, and in line with its strategy and vision to enhance and promote values of solidarity and diversity, Zain Jordan persisted in its efforts throughout 2024 to support the local community and various entities through effective engagement and fruitful partnerships with civil society institutions. Zain's achievements were crowned this year with a royal accolade, as His Majesty King Abdullah II awarded the company the Silver Jubilee Medal in recognition of its contributions to the development of the telecommunications sector in the Kingdom.
As part of its 17-year-long partnership with the Jordan River Foundation, Zain supported the Family and Child Helpline (110) to enhance social care and protect children in Jordan from all forms of violence and abuse. The company provided a high-quality communications exchange system to ensure efficient and reliable connectivity and offered training services for the hotline's counselors to develop their skills and empower them to handle and follow up on various cases. Additionally, Zain launched awareness campaigns through its social media platforms. Since its inception, the helpline has addressed over 100,000 cases.
In alignment with Jordan's unified stance and its humanitarian initiatives that began with the onset of the brutal aggression on Gaza over a year ago, Zain continued its support for the people in the besieged Gaza Strip. The company supplied 90 Negative Pressure Wound Therapy devices to treat injuries, delivered in collaboration with the Royal Medical Services to the Jordanian field hospitals in Gaza, aiming to assist in treating the wounded and alleviating their suffering. Zain also provided medical consumables and support equipment necessary for operating these devices, used for treating open and acute wounds as well as second- and third-degree burns. Recently, in collaboration with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, Zain dispatched a new aid truck loaded with winter coats for children and adults, and blankets donated by the company and its employees, who participated in a donation campaign to support Gaza's people.
Zain continued its contribution as a key partner to the Jordanian Threed Charity Endowment—which provides nutritious meals to those in need—by donating 100,000 Jordanian Dinars to support the project, contribute to its expansion, and ensure its sustainability to reach as many beneficiaries as possible.
To empower all members of the local community and help improve their living standards, Zain Jordan, under a 20-year agreement with the Ministry of Social Development, provided an annual fund of 30,000 Jordanian Dinars for the Zain Relief Fund, established in 2004. This fund offers exceptional financial assistance to individuals and families in need. To date, Zain has supported nearly 5,000 cases across the Kingdom, with financial aid exceeding half a million Jordanian Dinars.
For the past 25 years, Zain has been supporting five homes under SOS Children's Villages in Amman, Irbid, and Aqaba, by providing annual financial aid worth 75,000 Jordanian Dinars to ensure a nurturing and supportive environment for children and youth, guaranteeing them a decent life and better future. The company also organizes regular visits, social, and recreational activities, participating in their celebrations and events. Over the years, Zain has provided cash and in-kind support amounting to nearly 1 million Jordanian Dinars. On the occasion of the association's 40th anniversary, Zain provided additional financial assistance to secure winter clothing and necessities for children, youth, and mothers.
Reaffirming its commitment to supporting people with disabilities and to creating an inclusive society, Zain continued in 2024 to back its Paralympic champions for the 14th consecutive year. These athletes represent Jordan in local, regional, and international competitions. The list of Zain's Paralympic champions includes blind sprinter Suhail Al-Nashash, table tennis player Fatima Al-Azzam, shot-put champion Jamil Shibli, and powerlifters Mutaz Al-Junaidi, Tharwat Al-Hajjaj, Omar Qarada, Asma Shukri, and Abdelkarim Al-Khatib.
Zain also leveraged technology to enhance the accessibility of its services for people with disabilities. The company launched a cutting-edge video chat service with real-time sign language translation for its customers with hearing and speech impairments using the "Basmet+ Plan" across all its stores in Jordan. Through this service, customers can communicate effectively with store staff using tablets equipped with speech-to-sign language translation technology in Jordanian Sign Language.
